古事記、日本書紀には記録されていない瀬織津姫神（せおりつひめのかみ）。

神社の神主さんが奏上する“大祓祝詞”（おおはらえののりと）に現れ、全ての穢れを祓い浄めるという、水の女神です。

古事記に記される、弥都波能売神（みつはのめのかみ）や、日本書紀でいう罔象女神（みつはのめのかみ）と、同神であるとも言われています。

また、瀬織津姫は古代ヤマトに於ける神武天皇より前の大王・ニギハヤヒの妃である登美屋比売（とみやひめ）と同一である…とする伝承が存在します。

そればかりか、瀬織津姫こそは天照大神の荒御魂（あらみたま）であるとして、伊勢神宮の荒祭宮（あらまつりのみや）で祀られてきた経緯が有ります。

でるもなかの描く夛果海原（たかあまはら）という異世界。

その異世界を旅する、岩村眞人という少年は、瀬織津姫が自分の先祖と関わりが有る…と考えています。

夛果海原には古来からの神々が坐すと云われており、岩村少年は先祖の神々を求めて旅するのです。
